One of my favorite pattern makers is…

Helen’s Closet Patterns!

Every time I make one of her patterns, I am surprised all over again by two main things:

1: How well it suits my figure. I don’t feel like the garment is fighting with my curves, which is such a relief.

2. How easy the pattern is to follow! Sewing does not come naturally to me. I am practically more likely to sew something backwards than the correct direction. Having simple, clear directions to follow makes all the difference to me. It means I enjoy the process AND the end result!

How It All Started

Hi! My name is Maggie. I am a thirty-something mother of two in Atlanta, GA. Anyone who knows me can attest to the fact that I am VERY messy. So when I was pregnant with my son, I didn’t feel the need to “nest” like some expectant mothers do. Instead, I just really really wanted to make him a quilt. Specifically a quilt.

Unfortunately, I had a medically complicated pregnancy and there was no way I was going to learn a new hobby while I was pregnant. But a few months after my son was born, I started looking around on the internet.

I was lucky enough to find Fabricate Studios here in Atlanta and immediately signed up for sewing 101. Sewing didn’t come naturally to me, but I love color and I love learning, and I was HOOKED.

My first real project was a baby quilt for my son and I have never looked back!
